1. format USB drive as Fat32 File System
2. extract all files from bios to the flash drive
3. plug in the AC adapater, & USB inside your lapotop
4. power on laptop & hit the F12 key
5. select USB boot and press enter
6. then type C: hit enter
7. then type flashS.nsh (S is capital)
8. it will start bios update
9. after bios update you can switch efi boot mode to legacy mode and install windows7
i have found official legacy bios file which can be run under windows only, i mean you must be running windows 8 in order to update bios, if you don’t have any operating system installed on your laptop, then 1st install windows8 and update bios

Try the other way…open the USB flash and go through the files. Double click the .exe file and it will update the BIOS…it will automatically restart the computer and update the BIOS. Then you can go to BIOS set up. Use F2 key NOT F12.

The problem with a blank (new) ssd or hdd is that there is no C: . The shell shows you what devices it finds. For me it was blk1 so I wrote blk1: and hit enter. After that I could execute the flash command and the bios update started. Everything worked fine. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE GUIDE.

Wanted to change my p40 pro to china version, contacted multiple people, some were promising free, some less money, but they didn’t share details. He was more upfront which I appreciated. go to bios first(F2)
set the first boot device to USB
dont use F12
and follow the onscreen instructions as given in word document
