Mate 20 Lite has been released with EMUI 8 with android 8 running in back. We have tried to gain root access and it was successful you can follow the guide given below to root your phone.

Rooting Guide:

• Backup all important data from the phone
• Unlock Bootloader (Unfortunately it paid)
• Once the bootloader is unlocked, download and install magisk manager on your phone (Download Link)
• Download the Patched boot file from THIS LINK
• Extract zip file
• Download and install Minimal adb and fastboot from This Link
• Connect phone in fastboot mode
• Open Minimal ADB and fastboot
• Then you have 2 ways to flash patched boot images.
• Type  fastboot flash ramdisk and then drag and drop patched boot image on cmd screen, then press enter
• or
• Another way is to copy patched_boot.img in the same folder where minimal ADB was installed and then type the command ” fastboot flash ramdisk patched_boot.img ” and press enter.
• Reboot and install root checker to verify
• Profit

Warning: Always disable automatic updates of phone, rooted phone may brick when installing updates, also avoid doing factory reset on a rooted phone.
