How to Disable Screen Lock on Huawei Devices
“Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage” appears when you try to disable screen lock on Huawei device. And you have already tried disabling device administrators but couldn’t find a work around, then you came to right place. In this article i am going to guide you how to disable screen lock security on Huawei devices.
Steps by step guide:
- Go to settings > screen lock & passwords
- Tap on 2nd option PIN.
- Enter the pin you have saved, and then tap on pattern.
- a popup message will appear that setting pattern lock will remove finger print record, just tap on continue.
- On next screen draw your pattern lock, use easiest combination.
- Next it will ask you to set backup pin, write 0000 (4 times 0), or any pin of your choice and tap on continue.
- Now lock the screen by pressing power button, and wake up screen again, it will ask you to enter pattern lock.
- You should draw wrong pattern 5 times, until it popup appears that phone has been disabled for 30 seconds, tap on OK.
- Wait for 30 seconds and you will notice that Backup PIN option has been shown at bottom.
- Tap on Backup PIN and enter the pin you have stored earlier while setting up pattern lock. and Boom, your screen lock has been disabled.
Now you can go back and start using phone without screen lock.

Bro u r a lifesaver!! I activated the lock but it annoys me and couldn’t turn it off. Thank you for the tutorial. Worked just as indicated.
working. thank you
Thank you MOS, it worked
Worked on my honor6x. Thanks a million
So, I have an Honor 8 running Nougat/EMUI5 and this doesn’t appear to work for me. I can follow this, but when I enter a pattern, it does NOT ask me for a backup pin. It just sets the lock to “Pattern” and that is it.
If I then lock it and enter the wrong pattern 5 times, it says to “wait 60 seconds and try again” — and forces me to wait until I can try the pattern again. Never asks for any backup password.
Any ideas?
What is your complete build number?
Build: FRD-L14C567B360
EMUI: 5.0
Android: 7.0
Android Patch: December 1, 2016
Kernel: 4.1.18-gaa01840 – Fri, Dec 30 2016
Thanks!
I just did some research and came to know, you can’t disable in nougat
Ok — thanks for checking. Do you know if this is Nougat in general — or just the Huawei Nougat devices with EMUI?
Just seems crazy to me that I can’t NOT have a screen lock.
What I read, its nougat feature, not linked linked to emui
The option to disable it is still there in the Developer Options, but it stays greyed out and locked — and I think that is tied to EMUI. But, just not sure. I’ll do some more research. Thanks.
If you are using 3rd party launcher, then it is being controlled by it, maybe that’s why it’s disabled
Or just try this,
1. Remove finger prints
2. Put numeric passcode instead of pattern
3. Disable in developer options
I’m not using a 3rd party anything. This is a fresh Honor 8.
So, this is a bit funny. I tried that earlier, and the option under Developer Settings still stays disabled. However, I went and looked and once you remove the fingerprints, there is an option under the normal Password section to set it to NONE. Then you just swipe up to unlock like normal instead of entering any passcode!
So, it works how I want now. Even with the option still disabled in Developer Options. Thanks.
Glad to know it worked,
Thank YOU sir !
Loved it

Perfect solution.
If ever i got another problem i will come to this site.
thanks a lot, it worked!
Thank you. You just saved my life!!
Hi! Any ideas on how to do it on Huawei P10 Lite? I try it but when I put the wrong pattern, it just says “wait 60 seconds…”
Go to settings > screen locks > password> select none
It worked on my Huaewy Y5 2017, was really simple, just follow the steps and thats all!!!
Thank you very much………
Thank You! It is working fine for the Y6 2017!
Thank you!!!! Worked on Huawei honor 8 this guide is awesome well done!
wow…..worked on media pad t2 7…thanks a lot again bro
Yes thank you so muchI, after trying a bunch of things to try to clear credentials and what not and nothing was working then Google told me to go to android lost.com and that didn’t work, so thank you so much. I was skeptical I will admit lol but it worked perfectly on my Huawei xt ascend… it was a life saver, I put the pin on, then it was such a hassle I wanted it off badly and that stupid none wasn’t selected…why Da Fuq they do they to us????? Was that really necessary.. who is in charge of the none option, cause that was a lot of.research just to get the Damn thing OFF, anyways, thank you again.
thank you..it worked in my huawei gr5..youre a life saver
I just followed the steps, and it worked thank you.
