Samsung Galaxy S9 SCV38 TWRP and Root
Samsung Galaxy S9 SCV38 TWRP and root is now available. SCV38 is japanese KDI branded S9 model. This model is different from other global G960F model. Japanese model is running on a Qualcomm processor while global model have exynos. Since both models are different , this rooting method will not work for SM-G960F.
Requirements:
- Micro sd card
- Download no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0-star (click to download)
- Latest Magisk Manager (click to download)
- Magisk Root (click to download)
- TWRP recovery (click to download)
- Latest Odin (download latest version)

Rooting Tutorial:
- Backup all important data from the phone
- Disable automatic updates
- Tap 7 times on the build number to enable developer options
- Go into developer options and enable OEM unlock
- Then insert sd card in the phone and copy the Magisk manager, Magisk zip file, and no-verity file to the sd card
- Install Magisk Manager apk
- Then power off phone and disconnect from pc
- Connect phone in download mode (hold Volume down, bixby and power keep holding until warning screen appears then press volume up to enter download mode)
- Open odin, open options tab and untick auto reboot, then select TWRP in AP section and click start
- Once TWRP flashed , disconnect phone and hold volume down and bixby button, keep holding until screen goes off then quickly leave volume down and hold volume up, bixby and power buttons, keep holding until see TWRP recovery
- If you fail to enter TWRP in 1st attempt you need to repeat process again
- Once you are in TWRP, swipe to allow modifications then tap on install >select storage and choose sd card
- Then tap on no verity zip file and swipe to flash
- Then go back and flash magisk zip file
- Then go back to main menu of TWRP and tap on wipe and press format data button, type yes if ask for confirmation
- Once data format complete, reboot phone
- Profit, your phone is rooted now
