Hi. I got the same problem “the firmware does not exist”. And have a questions:
        1. dload folder should be created in the internal storage/root/sdcard/ ?
        2. after moving update.app and data.zip to the dload – should I delete the HwOU/69374 folder?

        • Yes delete hwOU folder, and please use sd card, make dload folder in sd card sdcard/dload

            UPDATE.APP
            update_data_full_vodafone_default.zip

        • polis says:

Thanks. I am trying it now (27% downloading…). Will let you know the results…
Is it possible to flash the unbranded rom to the P9 vodafone, so in the future get all ota updates for this device. If yes then how, do you have a guide?

          • Do it before upgrading to Nougat.
yes, its possible to debrand but you will lose warrant, and method includes unlocking bootloader and installing twrp. only then it can be debranded to normal European version

          • polis says:

Well. I can confirm now that Alternative method works.
My P9 is running Nougat now. Thank you!
Do you think I still can do debranding now (i don’t care about warranty) ?

          • Please check your email, and respond me there

  6. Giampy10 says:

Hi, at 35 % “softaware installation failed”. Any help?!?! I have created on the sd a folder “dload” and in this folder i move UPDATE.APP from update.zip . NOW I HAVE A BOOTLOOP FOR THIS GUIDE.

  7. Going to test if the alternative method works
Just to be clear, will my warranty still be valid after these?
(I don’t think I will end up needing the warranty, but a little piece of mind goes a long way)

  8. andy levenson says:

I followed the 2nd method, download completed and the install completed. Says device updated. It then reboots the phone and when it tries to verify update on the phone, it just says software install failed and the only option is to reboot. I’m still on Android 6.0. Can you tell me what might be wrong ?

  9. andy levenson says:

thanks, I thought the 2nd method was the one to follow and I’ve seen a previous comment to say it does work, just wondering if I haven’t done something correctly after the install.
